Artist: William Reusswig

Frank William Reusswig was born in Somerville, New Jersey into a family of German ancestry. He studied at Amherst College and did his first illustration assignments for magazines like like Colliers, Cosmopolitan, Redbook, Saturday Evening Post and Country Gentleman. After severing in World War II, he sold freelance illustrations to men's adventure magazines like True, Argosy, Sports Afield and Outdoor Life. He also made a comic adaptations of novels for the newspaper section by King Features and the Book-of-the-Month Club (a.o. 'Paris Underground'). Reusswig married author and illustrator Martha Sawyers, with whom he traveled around the world and produced several books about the Far East.
